O’Charley’s Restaurant and Bar offers a rewards program (the O’Club) that, when partnered with rewards from credit cards and additional partners (United MileagePlus X), produces truly phenomenal rewards. The following is my review of O’Charley’s excellent rewards program.
Rewards Program – A-
The O’Charley’s Restaurant and Bar Rewards O’Club program bases its system on how many purchases are made in the restaurant and on the app. This system differs from most other restaurant reward programs that base their programs on spending. This results in a positive value when a customer makes small purchases, which is remarkably easy since O’Charleys runs daily lunch specials. Their delicious chicken nachos, usually $11.99, are only $5.00 on Mondays.
My only frustration with the program is a need for more information about how the program works. I’ve used it for months, and the number of visits needed to earn a reward ranges from three to five trips. Likewise, the amounts of rewards fluctuate, ranging from $6.00 to $10.00, in my experience. I could not find information online as to a specific rewards structure. However, I am confident in using the program since even the lowest rewards rate I’ve earned exceeds the awards earned through many other restaurant programs.
Recently, I ordered the $5 nachos three weeks in a row and earned a $10 reward. Excluding tax and tip, this equates to a phenomenal 66% return.
Rewards Partnerships – A
O’Charley’s partners with the United MileagePlus X app, one of the Rewards Master’s recommended rewards apps. O’Charley’s offers 5 United miles per dollar spent on the MileagePlus X when ordering gift cards through the app. The results can be incredible when the United MileagePlus X app is used in conjunction with O’Charley’s O’Club rewards. Suppose a purchaser has a United branded credit card. In that case, they receive an additional 25% bonus miles, resulting in 6.25 United miles per dollar spent.
Ease of Use – A
The O’Club rewards app is simple and easy to use. Choose a location and build your order through the app. O’Charleys sends a text message confirming your order with instructions to text “here” when you arrive. The restaurant has designated parking spots. I’ve waited only a few minutes after sending my arrival text.
Payment can be made through the app by credit card or a gift card. The Mileage Plus X gift cards are easy to input and have always worked seamlessly for me.
Food/Beverage Quality – B
O’Charley’s menu is typical American fare: appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, desserts, and more. The food is reasonably good, if not exceptional, and the prices are typical for chain casual dining restaurants. As mentioned above, their chicken nachos are an excellent value when they are on special, and I wholeheartedly recommend the delicious Honey-Drizzled Southern Fried Chicken.
O’Charley’s O’Club provides outstanding value, primarily when used with the MileagePlus X rewards app and a credit card earning 3-5x in the dining category. I use their program regularly and have achieved an outstanding rewards rate superior to most other restaurant rewards programs.
